Abyssal Soul

Abyssal Soul is a roguelike deckbuilder set in a world with a very similar aesthetic and setting to the Souls saga. Throughout each run, you will meet new interesting characters, which will allow you to unlock new cards and amulets. Your objective, as is typical of games in the genre, is to reach the last node of the map, where a boss will usually be waiting for you.

A completely new card system

Unlike the vast majority of games inspired by Slay the Spire, Abyssal Soul doesn't have an energy-based combat system where each card has a specific energy point cost associated with it. Instead, Abyssal Soul employs a sequential card system, in which a specific number of cards to the right of a card must be sacrificed in order to use it. It's a different system to what most seasoned players will be used to, so it can be a bit confusing as you get to grips with it, but its novelty is precisely what makes it much more stimulating.

A dark and interesting setting

Abyssal Soul is set in a dark world that feels highly reminiscent of Elden Ring or other titles in the Souls saga. Even the story and the characters come across in the same way. You will only have one hero when you start playing, but as you progress you can meet and unlock a cast of different characters. In total, there are 15 different heroes from across four classes. Each class also has its own unique cards and mechanics, different from the rest.

More than 500 cards to choose from

All good roguelike deckbuilders need a wide variety of cards to choose from. And Abyssal Soul has just that. In total, you can unlock more than 500 different cards, as well as dozens of amulets and runes to create special synergies with your skills. Also worth bearing in mind is that, as is traditional in the genre, you can upgrade each and every one of the cards in the game. Thanks to its enormous variety, having two similar runs is almost impossible. Each game will feel completely unique.
